Certain regulations are unique to trout waters. The following is not meant to represent all of the trout regulations. For a more detailed explanation, please refer to the current Arkansas Fishing Regulations Guidebook which shows daily and length limits. Regulations for your destination can also be found within this guidebook.
Along the Little Red River
| South Fork (Johnson Hole): |
Do not eat largemouth bass longer than 16 inches because of mercury contamination. Other fish may be eaten without restrictions. |
| Greers Ferry Lake tributaries: |
Walleye from 18 inches to 28 inches long must be released immediately. Walleye daily limit is four, only one of which may exceed 28 inches. |
| m Greers Ferry Dam to Highway 305: |
Open to fishing with rod or pole only. Anglers may use no more than one fishing rod or pole and must attend it at all times. A trout permit is required. |
| From 100 yards below Greers Ferry Dam to a half-mile downstream at the last fish hatchery outlet pipe in Kennedy Park: |
Catch-and-release area. Only artificial lures with one single barbless hooking point per pole may be used (no marshmallows, salmon eggs, or moldable substances such as POWERBAIT, POWER EGGS or Zeke’s Gold (types of bait). Trout must be released immediately. |
| From the last fish hatchery outlet pipe in Kennedy Park to Highway 305 Bridge: |
Except for areas designated as catch-and-release, brown trout daily limit is four, only one of which may exceed 21 inches long. Brown trout measuring from 16 inches to 21 inches long must be released immediately. |
| From head of Cow Shoals to Mouth of Canoe Creek: |
Seasonal catch-and-release area from October 1 through December 31. Only artificial lures with one single barbless hooking point per pole may be used (no marshmallows, salmon eggs, or moldable substances such as POWERBAIT, POWER EGGS or Zeke’s Gold (types of bait). Closed to night fishing (one-half hour after sunset to one-half hour before sunrise) from October 1 through December 31. |
| Greers Ferry tailwaters (from Dunham to Mossy Shoals): |
Catch-and release area. Only artificial lures with one single barbless hooking point per pole may be used (no marshmallows, salmon eggs, or moldable substances such as POWERBAIT, POWER EGGS or Zeke’s Gold (types of bait).Trout must be released immediately. |
